Trustees
Standing for election to the Trust is open to any of its owners , a residential or business owner who has a dedicated ICP number (shown on your power account).
Under the Trust Deed, Trustees are individually elected for four years.
Every second year, three of the six Trustees (the longest in office) must on a rotating basis either retire or restand for election, thus providing an opportunity for change in representation.
The Trustees elect a Chair after each AGM. Sharon Crosbie CNZM OBE of Manakau was elected Chair in July 2017, and the Trustees are Corey Kennett GradDipBusStuds of Levin, John Yeoman BBS ACA FCG of Paraparaumu, Neil Mackay BCA of Paraparaumu, Russell Longuet BE (Elec) of Otaki and Brendan Duffy ONZM, JP of Levin.
Sharon Crosbie had a 35 year career as a radio and television broadcaster and was CEO of Radio New Zealand. She has had extensive board, trust. and governance experience.
She was both a Harkness and Nieman Fellow at Harvard, an executive of the Commonwealth Broadcasters Association board and has been involved in arts and health governance.
With over 15 years leading the Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Football Union, Corey understands the region's needs and goals.
His experience as a trustee for the Eastern and Central Community Trust has honed his governance and community development skills.
Currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Massey University, Corey is committed to driving positive community outcomes
Mr Yeoman was the Chief Executive of Electra Limited for 12 years until his retirement in 2014. John’s previous career was in financial and executive roles with Contact Energy, TransAlta and Rotorua Electricity.
He is Chair of the Kapiti Retirement Trust and on the Board of ETNZ (Energy Trusts of NZ). John lives in Paraparaumu and is a member of the Chartered Accountants ANZ.
I am currently an Executive Director of a water quality technology company and Chair of the Kapiti Economic Development Kotahitanga Board.
I have extensive senior management and governance experience in a wide range of sectors in NZ and overseas.
I was a director and the previous Chair of Electra Ltd.
Brendan served 12 years as Mayor of the Horowhenua District Council. He owned Canvasland in Levin for 30 years.
He is Chair of the Local Govt Commission, and sits on various Trusts and private companies, with a particular focus on governance advisory guidance.
He lives in Levin with his wife Sheryl.
Russell's background is in electrical engineering, investment banking and energy/risk consulting. He was on the Electra Board for 10 years until 2018.
He has been a senior executive and a director of a number of energy related companies as well as on energy and transmission advisory groups to Government. He was also an Authority member of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA). He lives in the Otaki Gorge.
